My idea of a Happy Hour - A nap.

Happy Leap Day, everyone. What are you doing with your extra day?  It's been a busy one for me so it really doesn't feel "extra". Just another day and one where I didn't even get to step into the craft room. Lucky for me I worked a bit yesterday.  Many family birthdays are approaching so I wanted to spend some time on a masculine birthday card.  This is an A2 sized card, featuring 3D paper tole from Hot Off the Press. The papers are also from HOTP as well as the celebrate sticker. Not a difficult card but now that I look at it, not a truely masculine one either.  The little scooter is pretty cutesy to me. Back to the drawing board. I'll get it right next time.

I'm ready for some blessings that aren't in disguise.

I won't elaborate in depth but my lovely niece who is battling breast cancer has just been told there is malignancy in her second breast and has had surgery moved up. Prayers for her, please  #Sarahstrong.  It's been a difficult year for this family, not complaining, just hoping for some real blessings for those I so love.

Today I was able to garner some time to play with paper.  Easter cards seem to have been the main focus of my endeavors. I must be craving spring - only weeks to go. One of the cards I made was a result of a YouTube video. I follow some very talented artists on their  channels. One of my favorites, Nichol Spohr Magouirk,  created an adorable card using the Simon Says Stamp March card kit. The moment I saw it I knew I had to try her technique on a card of my own.  Have a "peep".

The sentiment inside reads,"You're my kind of Peep".  The photo doesn't reveal the shine(like sugar) on the bunny peeps. My trusty Wink of Stella clear brush pen helped me achieve the look I wanted. I used Ranger Distress markers for the coloring and SimonSaysStamp cardstock, stamps and dies.
Pastel plaid paper is Carta Bella.

As long as everthing is exactly the way I want it - I'm totally flexible.

Well, I'm trying to be very flexible.
Things are going well for my Mom, she's improving daily in strength and mobility.  We are kept pretty busy with visits from the home nurse and therapists, a good thing for her. I haven't been in the craft room much but I have managed to put together a few cards. Already started planning for next Christmas. My goal is a few cards a month so I don't get overwhelmed at the last minute. Never have enough birthday and thankyou cards either. Here are a few of the ones I'v worked on lately.

For Easter

Love this cake and the sentiment.

Found this picture on FB and just love it. Background is foiled.

Never let a stumble in the road be the end of the journey.

My Mom is home.
We are thankful she is gaining strength and feeling better. Recovering from a stroke is not easy or quick but she is on the mend and happy to be out of the nursing home.

I've been kept pretty busy but have managed to complete two Easter card I'd been working on prior to Mom's illness.  They are very similar, almost identical. I water colored the first background using Tim Holtz distress inks as my color medium. Colors used are Broken China, Tumbled Glass, Mowed Lawn and Crushed Olive. On the second card I used a lovely design paper from my SSS stash. Bunnies, bows and grass were cut using my Cricut Explore. One greeting was stamped with stamp from Simon Says Stamp and the other is a sentiment sticker. The lovely flowers are stickers (Dazzles) from Hot Off the Press.  Thinking spring!

Sorry I've been away. My mother suffered a stroke on January 28th and spent some time in the hospital and now in a skilled nursing facility for Rehab therapies.  I've not been home much and have done no crafting.  Hopefully, as things improve I'll return.
